Just a quick saturday ranto for you before I sit down for the night to watch Robbie Savage on strictly and obvs catch this weeks xfactor (still dont know who to support really, also cant shake the feeling that I know that Sophie Habibas from somewhere, anyone shed any light on that one?)
Anyways today is the day I watched my nation crash out of the rugby world cup, and, it did make me sad.
Yes, rugby is a second rate sport, but at the same time you have to appreciate the physicality of the players and the athletisism required to play the game at the top level. At a lower level of course the sport simply requires brute strength over any type of skill.
Rant level one is as follows: yes we (wales) had a player sent off, take note of how as a nation we now all get behind Sam (Warburton), we back him as our captain and our best player at the tournament, and we wish him a long and sucessful tenure in the role...That is how you support a national team! Take note Daily Mail, Sun, Tories and all England fans...It wasnt a week ago that wayne rooney was sent off in a national football match, despite the fact as a team theyd already qualified he became public enemy number one and all of a sudden the talk is, do we bring him, should he even go to the championships...Well he the best player by a country mile and without him rest assured england wouldnt even be there! Support the fucking team! Besides that even during his three match ban when he is sitting in the stands he will still be doing more than Gabby Agbongolawhore and Bobby 'thats' Zamore can manage on the pitch.
Rant level Two: I know the spear tackle rule was brought in to make the game safer for players but it seems odd to me that a player should be sent off in a Rugby world cup semi final for a rugby tackle.
Rant Level Three (uber rant): I love being welsh, when we win or when we lose in football in rugby in anything as a cardiff fan im used to my share of heartbrake, im used to it. Two things have annoyed me...today in particular. Number one, Welsh fans that are saying, well im proud of the boys whatever....so you fucking should be! they represent us! people saying im gonna still wear my welsh shirt with pride, well to be frank if you ever wear it with anything but pride you should have it torn off your back and shoved firmly up your arse! On a similar level are those of you spouting cymru am byth! Quite honestly if your not welsh I find this a fucking insult, make no mistake. You will never catch me supporting england or scotland or france or ireland or australia or anyone, why? because im WELSH! At the most you are a neautral if your nation arent playing. How many people out there would say England forever if they werent english?
Now I dont hate anyone, I love the fact that my friends come from around the globe and its a pleasure knowing each and every one of them, but do not basterdise my country, we are not a fucking novelty act we are a proud, strong nation with much passion and love in our hearts, and we will welcome everyone into our homes and our hearts and we will love you. If you want to support my nation, i thank you, you can stand by me when we are going down by cricket scores to your (former) nation, you can stand by me when we fail to qualify for another cup while your (former) nation spits at and boos its representatives. If you can do that then hop on, its a painful but incredibly satifying ride..... you cant? then support your own fucking teams!
Wow, that was a rant, something took over then, maybe a bit too much?? No, I dont think it is!
